Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Students,
We are beginning another exciting school year at Del Cerro. We are going to have over 600 students, 24 teachers, lots of support staff, hundreds of parent volunteers, and one smiling principal.
We have completed the classroom additions and the necessary modifications over the summer and are ready for a super school year. Teachers have been in their rooms getting organized, the PTA, under your President, Julie Fretwell, has planned an ambitious and productive year and everyone started early to be ready for September 10th.
We hope parents and students enjoyed their last few days of vacation and are as excited as we are about a new beginning. Budgets will be a challenge and supplies will be limited, but, enthusiasm and teacher excellence are in abundance and that is all that is needed for student success.
We want to invite parents to be active members of the Del Cerro Team. There is no debate about the fact that family involvement in schools boosts student achievement. Families and parents can support their children’s schooling by volunteering, attending school functions, and being aware of classroom activities. They can become more involved by helping their children improve their schoolwork through encouragement, modeling desired behavior (such as reading for pleasure), monitoring and helping with homework, and tutoring at home. When the family is involved in their children’s school, children benefit, schools benefit, and families benefit.
Looking forward to a great year!
